Each discipline within the Headwaters team works in tandem with one another. There is constant communication between clinical, medical and spiritual professionals concerning each patient.

We adhere to established codes of ethics and standards. We promote and protect patients’ rights by strictly upholding federal, state and agency regulations regarding addiction treatment and health care privacy.

Dr. Sandra Betancourt

PhD, MCAP, ICADC, CMHP – Clinical Director

Dr. Sandra Betancourt began her work in substance abuse and mental health in a small rural Connecticut community where she saw the need to develop a treatment track for monolingual Spanish patients. Today she is a member of the American Psychological Association, having been in substance use disorders and mental health for 25 years.

Dr. Betancourt a PhD. in psychology, is a Florida Board Certified Mental Health Professional and a Board Certified Addiction Counselor. She worked for Dr. David Powell, at E.T.P. (Education and Training Programs,) she has vast experience with co-occurring disorders, and led the development of a treatment track for chronic mentally ill patients with substance use disorders at the Veterans Memorial Hospital. She has extensive knowledge and training in program development and supervision, and in the use of evidenced-based/research-proven practices. Dr. Betancourt participates in the daily integration of services for executives and individuals of high net worth.

Adam-Bianchini

Dr. Adam Bianchini

M.D. – Medical Director

After receiving his Bachelor of Science in Biology at Brown University, Dr. Bianchini completed his Medical Doctorate training at Jefferson Medical College, in Philadelphia. His post-graduate education includes a General Surgery Internship at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, and an Anesthesiology Residency at Hartford Hospital in Connecticut.

Adam’s personal recovery experience led him to the field of addiction treatment where he has served in both medical and executive roles.

His experience as a Director of Medicine spans a decade, and he brings that knowledge and expertise to Headwaters. In addition to both providing and overseeing the medical care to patients receiving addiction treatment, he has developed and facilitated both 12-Step and Christian recovery curricula that have impacted thousands of patients in their battle to restore their lives.

Raju-Mangrola

Dr. Raju Mangrola

M.D. – Chief Psychiatrist

Dr. Mangrola is a Board-Certified Psychiatrist who has been in private practice for more than 25 years. He is board certified in General Psychiatry, Addiction Psychiatry, Forensic Psychiatry, and Psychosomatic Medicine, and is also a Diplomate of the American Board of Addiction Medicine.

Dr. Mangrola has worked in various prestigious programs as medical director where he served the needs of individuals with addiction and various psychiatric issues. Through his extensive work with addictive and co-occurring disorders, he brings a wealth of knowledge in evaluation and treatment. He has also been active in speaking forums addressing the issues related to addiction and the opiate crisis.

Dr. Stacy Grossman

Psy.D. – Psychological Services Coordinator

Wilmington, and an M.S. in Clinical Psychology and a Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from Nova Southeastern University. She is also a Licensed Clinical Psychologist in the state of Florida. Her experience in the substance use disorder arena is vast and includes mental health, substance abuse treatment, and psychological testing; private practice providing mental health and testing services to adults and kids; and outpatient adult mental health clinic, teaching and training professionals in the following areas: addiction treatment in the LGBTQ+ community, HIV/AIDS, domestic violence, and psychopathology. Her personal philosophy and that of Headwaters were perfectly aligned with the belief that the whole person must be treated—mind, body, spirit—using resources and tools that are evidenced-based and accessible to all people.

Stacy says that the bright spot of each patient relationship at Headwaters is, “Seeing them make improvements in their lives and see the light in their eyes sparkle again.” Her outside interests range from recent journeys to Jamaica and England; to eight concerts in 2018 alone ranging from Celine Dion to Niall Horan; to watching Marvel movies with her loyal canine and feline companions.

Timothy Mayer

LMHC, QS – Primary Therapist

Tim’s business administration degree from The University of Pittsburgh led him to a higher calling and a Masters in Counseling Psychology from Lesley University in Cambridge, MA. Since then he has worked with persistent and chronic mental illness for a decade; served for seven years as clinical director for several substance abuse agencies; was Outward Bound Instructor for Massachusetts’ Homeward Bound program working with at-risk populations; and has been with Headwaters for more than two years.

Tim’s philosophy includes experiential learning (learning through doing), reality therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and 12-Step based Cognitive Behavior Therapy. As an avid guitarist, he facilitates a music therapy group which is “second to none.” His own personal journey of recovery has spanned the last 29 years. When not with patients he shares his life with wife Annie and two dogs.

Stephen R. Honaker

LMHC – Family Counselor

Stephen’s educational background includes a B.A. in Education, a B.S. in Accounting and a M.Ed. in Mental Health Counseling. Additionally, he is a Florida Licensed Mental Health Counselor and Qualified Supervisor and is trained in EMDR. Before joining Headwaters in the summer of 2017, Stephen served as an executive director, program director and clinical director of several programs, and also created and facilitated self-created and developed family programs for numerous treatment programs on a contract basis throughout Florida. He facilitates the week-long Family Education Program which allows him to serve not only family members but also patients throughout Headwaters and all units within Hanley Center.

His philosophy of treatment is one which integrates evidence-based clinical and medical practices built upon a foundation of the 12-Steps and a relationship with God. When he isn’t immersed in helping patients and families, he spends time with his own daughter. Stephen is an avid runner, writer, and traveler, having traveled extensively throughout Russia and Ukraine.

Stacey Gobins

LMHC – Primary Therapist

With a Master of Science in Counseling from Marist College in Poughkeepsie, NY, Stacey has spent her career in counseling as well as researching the program of Alcoholics Anonymous and psychological wellbeing.

In addition to being a Licensed Mental Health Counselor she is certified in EMDR, is a yoga instructor, Yoga for 12-Step Recovery (Y12SR), Mindfulness-Based Relapse Prevention for Depression (MBCT), and The Jaguar Path Shamanic Healing Practices.

She joined the Origins clinical team in 2017, with a 20-year career that includes working as an Expressive Arts Therapist with adolescents; a Primary Therapist at Mountainside Treatment Center; Clinical Director of Honor Recovery; and Clinical Director for Maryland Addiction Recovery Center’s 24-bed facility for women, where she also developed a holistic program specifically for women in recovery.

Headwaters affords her the opportunity to share her own experience and values, as she leads others toward a psychic change. Stacey’s work with patients at Headwaters entails exploring underlying issues such as complex and attachment trauma, mood and personality disorders, disordered eating, and relational stressors that lead to relapse behavior.

Andrea Budd

CAC , ES – Director of Operations

providing individual and group counseling services. At Headwaters, she specializes in case management, program development, oversees the residential staff and works closely with the clinical team to address operational needs. Starting in 2009, Andrea has held numerous positions in the recovery field for affluent populations including residential manager, group counselor, assisted in case management, and managed a sober living facility in Delray Beach.

For the past two years, Andrea has attended numerous training with KIPU (EMR) and has earned the credential as Administrator of the EMR with the ability to train staff, build forms, audit reports, and audit the overall EMR to adhere to DCF/JACHO guidelines.

With credentialed experience in rehabilitation and substance abuse counseling, Andrea possesses a comprehensive skill set and compassionate understanding necessary to affect positive outcomes for clients. Andrea’s purpose is to heal, restore, and transform the lives of clients through highly personalized, nurturing, practical, and comprehensive care and address their addictions and the underlying psychological, physical, and spiritual needs.

She has two pets, practices yoga, enjoys nature through running and walking, attends support groups for alcoholics, and is determined to discover every great vegetarian restaurant in Delray Beach.
